no poison with this water

 I have to admit that while I heard Nalgene bottles were "poisonous" a long long time ago, I have been hesitant to part with my beloved water bottles. However, if someone will pony up the $29 for this beautiful, sleek water storage device, I might consider parting with my BPA filled Nalgene bottles... the key word was might. KOR's Hydration Vessel - a sleek, streamlined water bottle, is the Nalgene bottle of tomorrow. Made with Eastman Tritan, it is BPA free and [at least for now] won't leach into your water and slowly poison you. The bottle is inspired by blown glass and features a "no worry cap" and handle for your carrying convenience. 

what do silverware and the bellagio fountains have in common?

Check out Elise Rijnberg from the Netherlands. She's part photographer and part designer, with a whole lot of food influence. The tablecloth below illustrates a correct table setting for a formal dinner - something many of us could probably brush up on. Plus, her super skinny silverware are really cute!! She also has a really cool shot of the fountains at the Bellagio - one of my all-time favorite things to do. I've seen dozens of songs and I still get chills everytime! Check out number 64 in the travel section - it gives me chills too!

jantze brogard asshoff

Some cool pieces by the Swedish team Jantze Brogard Asshoff - they've also designed some pieces for IKEA. I especially like the house trashcan that you open by stepping on the front porch. 

Solemates

Sometimes the tiniest little thing can truly make a world of difference. Becca Brown and Monica Murphy were tired of losing their shoes to the hazards of damp grass, cobblestones, grates, and even just the pounding of the pavement. The talented duo created the SoleMates High Heeler to eliminate the walking hazards women everywhere encounter when wearing high heels. SoleMates slip onto most stiletto and kitten heels, distributing the pressure more evenly - thus preventing the wearing from sinking into damp grass. Solemates also create a wider base so as to provide additional support and prevent the heel from getting caught in grates, sidewalk grates, and other troublesome crevices.

glass water bottle

How cute is this glass water bottle from the Austin shop, Spartan?! It is perfect to keep beside the bed for when you wake up in the middle of the night dying of thirst. I must get one for my new, super chic, apartment- that i must find in the next two weeks. 

a compact for my powerbook

No one would ever call me technologically inclined, and I'm definitely not one to post about computer accessories, but I just couldn't help this one. Lately, my little Apple Powerbook has been feeling a little overwhelmed and I've been thinking about getting an external hard drive to serve as its "assistant." I really don't know much about specs or anything and haven't really pursued it much, but then today I stumbled across Samsung's new "Costume" external hard drive by Joongoo Lee. I think it was fate.

The ultra small external hard drive was inspired by a woman's makeup compact and measures just 2.5". I don't know any of the other specifics about it (like I said, I don't really "do" technology) but I want this. Now.

this is how i roll

Packing light is simply not in my vocabulary. I accepted long ago that I would always have to pay the fee for my bags weighing more than 50 lbs on airlines. Now that you have to pay for a second bag life is really going to be expensive. However, the new Oceano Travel Trunk by Poltrona Frau  would allow me to pack all that I wanted AND stay super organized. Just check out all the different compartments and drawers for accessories! Okay, it might be a little expensive to fly with, but perhaps when I go on my Mediterranean cruise I have planned in my head. Inspired by the travel trunks that people used to take on cruises long ago, the trunk is made of multilayer birch and coated with textured, non-scratch paint. Perhaps jetBlue should hand these out to help launch their "jetting" lifestyle?

oxo corn stripper rescues corn from cob

So corn on the cob is one of my favorite foods in the summer, however I absolutely hate eating it off of the cob. Too messy for me. So normally i saw off the little kernels with my knife but this becomes tricky as the cob typically slides out from my grip, often escaping from my plate altogether. So I am so excited to have found the OXO Corn Stripper from Williams-Sonoma. It collects the corn in its container and then you get to enjoy the wonderful flavor, without the fuss. Oh, and did I mention its only $12?! 

Got (spilt) milk?

The milk jug has gone green. The New York Times had an article about Wal-Mart and Sam's Club's new milk jug and people are not happy. The new jugs are designed to be better for the environment and cheaper. The new square shape also fits easily into side shelves of more modern refrigerators.

Thats the good. The bad is that the large and bulky square jugs are difficult to pour, and have resulted in a lot of spilt milk.
