Vintner Grill

About a year ago I discovered Vintner Grill in Las Vegas and right away became absolutely OBSESSED with the entire restaurant- especially the interior design and color scheme - lime green, black and white. The food [and wine] were absolutely delicious as well. I have since moved away from Las Vegas, but am still dreaming about recreating the dining room of the restaurant someday when I own my own kitchen. Plus, it has a super adorable, chic outdoor eating area that I love. Lime green, black, white, acrylic lamps, lanterns in the trees...LOVE IT.

Today I stumbled upon a picture of Kate Spade's kitchen. Now, I'm sure I've probably seen it before, but it was before my obsession with lime green, white and black kitchens. So here it is, for all to enjoy. However, nothing against Mrs. Spade, but I think I would add a itsy bitsy bit more lime green. Although, I can't see the rest of the room, so maybe it has some more. Shedefinitely earns bonus points for subway tiles!

and the kitchen sink...

Very cool kitchen sink. This sink is from Mick deGiulio's "East Meets West" concept kitchen in Sub-Zero's Training Center in Wisconsin.

a sink made for water

How great is this sink? Drying racks in the kitchen have always posed a slight problem because for the most part they are just plain ugly. Often, the more aesthetically pleasing ones are very simple and lack a drainage solution. The Decosink by Finnish designer Tiina Hakala provides a beautiful solution with twig like design that funnels water back into the sink.

Subway Tiles (again)

I've professed my love for subway tiles before, but I just can't help but post this beautiful kitchen by Steven Gambrel.

colorful iceboxes

Vintage is in and everything that's old is new again and home appliances are no different. Smeg has developed this 1950s style refrigerator that recalls a much simpler time; a time before your refrigerator could tell you the weather and what products you were out of.

The Smeg Refrigerator comes in 10 different colors (pink, red, blue, pastel blue, silver, lime green, pastel green, orange and black) to suit your color palette and features an antibacterial interior (I wasn't aware there was another option) as well as lighting and a freezer compartment. There are also
a variety of shelving and drawer features.
There are also egg trays and ice trays. Plus, you can get the door hinges on either the left or the right side, depending on your dexterity.

However, I'm not so sure about the fact that the freezer compartment doesn't have a separate door? I'm not technologically savvy enough to know how that works though...

i heart subway tiles in kitchens with oversized stainless steel appliances

I absolutely love these two kitchens with subway tiles. The first (above) is just so fresh and fun with the blue subway tiles and cushions, yet completely classic at the same time. The second (below) is the kitchen that spawned a thousand (or more) kitchens - the iconic kitchen from the movie Something's Gotta Give with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton. Granted, this photo doesn't show the kitchen in all of its glory so you'll have to take my word for it. If I had a kitchen like either of these I might even be inspired to cook ;)

oxo corn stripper rescues corn from cob

So corn on the cob is one of my favorite foods in the summer, however I absolutely hate eating it off of the cob. Too messy for me. So normally i saw off the little kernels with my knife but this becomes tricky as the cob typically slides out from my grip, often escaping from my plate altogether. So I am so excited to have found the OXO Corn Stripper from Williams-Sonoma. It collects the corn in its container and then you get to enjoy the wonderful flavor, without the fuss. Oh, and did I mention its only $12?!

Have your cake and eat it too!

It has been a while since I last found something that I am truly in awe of. I Dream of Cake is truly awe inspiring. They are true artists creating everything from handbags and shoes, to statues and laptop computers out of cake. It is AMAZING. It even inspires me to want to bake! Here are some of their designs, but not even the best ones. You have to check them out.
